Top Tips for Your First TOTFest

1. Give Yourself Time
We know how chaotic it can be to get out the door on time with toddlers in tow, whatever time you plan to arrive, give yourself plenty of time before. It makes for a calmer start and gives little ones a chance to get their bearings.

2. Dress for the Weather
TOTFest® is an outdoor event, and although there is indoor, shaded, covered and sheltered spaces it is still important to check the forecast and come prepared. light layers, hats, suncream, or waterproofs – we’ve seen it all in one day!

3. Pack Light (But Smart)
No one wants to be weighed down with tonnes of bags while they are trying to get involved in the activities, a small bag with nappies, wipes, lots of snacks, a change of clothes and a refillable water bottle will come in handy.

4. Bring a Picnic if You Like
You’re welcome to bring your own food, but please leave alcohol, glass, and knives at home. Or treat yourselves to something tasty from our food stalls.

5. Let them lead you
As a parent it's tempting to try and cram in every show, session, act and activity, but this can quickly lead overwhelm and overstimulation. Instead pick out 3 or 4 key activities that you know your little one will love, and let your child lead the way, trust us, it's magic!

6. Explore Freely
Our free-roam ethos means stepping away from rigid schedule and focussing walk up and play, letting little ones join in with activities for as long (or as little) as they like.

7. Make a note of the important things
Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the location of key zones such as first aid, water refill stations, toilets and lost child points.

8. Snap a Family Photo Early
Before the fun really kicks in, grab a quick photo together. Everyone’s looking fresh and you’ll have a lovely keepsake from the start of the day.
9. Find your quiet spot
Days out like TOTFest can be busy, so take a moment early on to spot a quieter corner where you can rest, recharge, and enjoy a breather with your little one. Taking them away from distractions for a quick snack or 5 minute rest can be key to keeping everyone happy!

10. End on a High
Plan one last ride, show, or activity before settling down to watch the wonderful Rainbow Parade – it makes leaving a little easier and the memories even sweeter.
